01 Challenge

The product problem

Primary-care teams work across triage, appointments, patient registers and compliance tasks that can become fragmented across screens. A useful POC had to communicate clinical risk and operational priorities without pretending to replace regulated production systems.

02 Approach

Turning complexity into a usable product

I designed the showcase around a fictional UK practice and role-specific demo accounts. The product language emphasises risk-first triage, Caldicott-aware audit behaviour and QOF-ready workflows while making the demonstration straightforward to explore.

03 Execution

What I designed and built

The interface presents a believable sign-in and practice cockpit with distinct GP, nurse, pharmacist and manager roles. Information architecture, terminology and visual hierarchy were shaped to support rapid orientation during a stakeholder demonstration.

What the POC proves

MediBase is an NDA-safe Simam Digital POC that demonstrates product thinking for complex healthcare operations. It shows how a clearer workflow model could support safer coordination while leaving clinical validation and production governance explicit future stages.

Technical delivery

How the product was shaped

MediBase was shaped as a risk-first practice workspace: triage, appointments, records and compliance signals connected through roles and auditable workflow rather than displayed as unrelated admin screens.

Workflow begins with role and urgency

A receptionist, clinician and practice manager need different actions from the same patient or appointment context. The product model separated permissions from visual convenience and made triage state explicit, allowing the interface to prioritise risk without exposing every clinical or administrative action to every user.

Records as an auditable sequence

Appointments, status changes, notes and follow-up actions were treated as events attached to stable patient and case identifiers. That creates a clearer route to history, accountability and integration than storing the latest value alone. The public POC uses representative data and does not claim production clinical compliance.

A cockpit for normal work and exceptions

Daily schedules and routine tasks needed to remain readable while urgent or incomplete work surfaced clearly. Progressive disclosure kept sensitive detail out of overview screens, and status language was designed to support handover. The technical value lies in joining workflow, permission and information architecture before production integration.
